UNITED BASKETBALL LEAGUE
OKLAHOMA IMPACT WIN CHAMPIONSHIP!
MCCORMICK IS NAMED UBL COACH OF THE YEAR.
By John Dillard
Did you know that Rick McCormick is at it again! Many people may not be aware that Rick served in the just completed 2009 season as General Manager and Head Coach of the Oklahoma Impact. The Impact are a professional basketball team that operated out of Oklahoma City. When one of Coach McCormick's former players approached him about lending a hand with this new professional basketball team, one thing lead to another and another. McCormick wound up handling all player personnel as General Manager, and serving as the Head Coach.
As the season came to a recent close, no one should be surprised that the McCormick lead Impact, won the Regular Season Championship by five games, and then captured the Playoff Championship with a 116-101 win over the Arkansas Warriors. The Impact posted an overall record of 14-1!! In fact the Impact did not just win the League Championship, but were dominant in the league from start to finish.
Some of the Impact players were: David Godbold, University of Oklahoma... Chris Wallace, Tulsa University... Harold Crow, Jacksonville State...Deangelo Alexander, USAO...and Jonathan Reed, Clayton State.
The UBL is similar in make-up to the former USBL playing in the Spring and Summer months.Just when you thought it had been a quiet off-season, the Southwest Hoops Inc. staff is on the move.
